I come from a family that has been affected by gun violence. Every day, one hundred people are killed with guns in America. Our country has the second highest gun deaths per year. No more thoughts and prayers as the only response to mass shootings. It is time that we stand up to corrupt politicians and the NRA. It is time to act.
We need comprehensive gun reform that includes universal background checks, an assault weapons ban, and red flag laws to prevent those who pose a danger to themselves or others from accessing firearms. It’s essential to close loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to acquire guns without proper oversight.
We can no longer allow the interests of a few to override the safety of our communities. It is time to listen to the voices of survivors and families affected by gun violence, and to enact policies that reflect the values of compassion and responsibility. Together, we can create a safer future, where our children can grow up without the fear of gun violence. Let’s unite for meaningful change and make it clear that we will not accept anything less than action.
